Tantra – Living Desire while Releasing Desires
~
Hear the word Desire and what comes to mind – Thoughts, right?
~
Then some Zen or Tantra article says, “you must be free of desires – only then will the path be revealed”
And you start gathering up your thoughts – your objects of desire – and you make a list
~
Now you starting thinking more thoughts about how to get rid of your desirous thoughts
Am I right?
~
To drop desire is not the act of renunciation [fasting, abstaining, etc.] – do you understand?
~
Think of your object of desire as a sphere – like the image you see of Earth
Your desire is a union of opposites – like the magnetic poles of the Earth
Desire is held fast in reality through binding together these opposites in thought
~
If you indulge in your desire – you have moved towards one pole of the sphere
If you renounce your desire – you’ve only moved to the opposite pole of the sphere
Your intellect deceived you – the sphere of desire remains whole and intact
~
Contemplate this deeply and you’ll know it to be true
~
The opposite of desire is silent contentment in action – it’s the absence of desirousness to achieve an outcome
It’s the feeling tone of indifference yet with an absolute sense of clarity
Fully embrace your desire – with clarity of consciousness – knowing desire will inform but not “capture” you
~
